Liposuction

Liposuction or liposculpture is a surgical technique used to remove fat deposits from certain areas of the body.

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery that allows a remodeling of the silhouette through the extraction of fat by means of very fine cannulas or a syringe connected to a suction machine.

Liposuction assisted by compressed air or the use of ultrasonic waves optimizes the result in the case of very fibrous fat.

The objective of liposuction is the reduction of a volume of fat in one or more areas simultaneously that distort the patient’s figure objectively or subjectively. It is very common to find these excess fat on the knees, thighs, hips, arms, abdomen and double chin.

Liposuction’s primary purpose is to eliminate adipose tissue located in different areas of the body, using liposuction surgery. Body lipodystrophy can be divided into two types: generalized and localized. The generalized is what is commonly known as obesity and a liposuction operation is not necessary but the most appropriate treatment is diet.

Liposuction can be accompanied by another cosmetic surgery called Dermolipectomy; This aesthetic operation is applied in the event that the excess is fat and skin. If, on the contrary, there is only excess fat, the treatment of choice will be liposuction.

Liposuction allows the repositioning of part of the superfluous fat extracted as a graft to provide greater volume and shape in specific areas and thus achieve a more aesthetic appearance, which is why liposuction surgery is also known as liposculpture.

Technique

The new advanced technology in liposculpture consists of the suction of fat controlled by an electrically assisted mechanism: the MicroAire is a state-of-the-art surgical equipment that allows us to regulate the extraction of fat modeling the body in a very precise way, separating the adipose tissue.

Postoperative

Once the intervention is finished, the patient must spend an indeterminate time in the center in order to see what is the recovery of the constants and the general state of the patient.

After this and on the same day, you can go home where you will remain relatively at rest, that is, you can do everything that your condition allows, avoiding sudden movements and violent exercises, the diet will be free and you must drink more than three liters of water daily during the first five days.

Aftercare

After a week or so, the patient goes to the clinic where the bandage is removed, if any, as well as the stitches placed. After that, massage sessions begin with lymphatic drainage of the operated area.

From here on, the patient wears the post-liposuction girdle only during the day (during the first week after the intervention, they should wear it day and night, not removing it at all, unless otherwise indicated otherwise), and can lead a practically normal life except in exceptional cases.

It is in this phase when the patient must attend an indeterminate number of times 10-20 massage sessions-lymphatic drainage- to recompose the inflamed area, because this makes the reabsorption faster and allows the aesthetic result be the best possible.

It must also be recognized by the doctor one month, three months, six months and one year after the intervention, at which time the patient will be discharged for good.

Frequently Asked Questions

The best candidates for liposuction are people of normal weight who have localized fat accumulation that does not respond well to exercise or diet. Liposuction can be performed at any age, but those with firm, elastic skin achieve the best results as elasticity itself contributes to smoothing the body contour after surgery. However, anyone with a medical problem such as diabetes or poor blood circulation is not a good candidate for this type of intervention.
Liposuction is a surgical procedure; consequently, it carries the same risks as any other surgery. The most common risk factors are infection, bleeding, and nerve damage.
Liposuction removes fat cells from the body. These fat cells will not re-form; however, if the patient does not follow a healthy diet and exercise routine, the remaining fat cells can expand, triggering weight gain in all parts of the body. However, the parts that were modeled with liposuction will have less capacity to produce fat.
Liposuction surgery costs depend on a number of factors including the surgeon and the number of areas of the body that are intended to be treated with this procedure. We usually offer a mini, half and full liposuction that each cover one or more regions of the body, respectively.
The results will be visible from the first day, but due to the subsequent inflammation, the optimal results will be appreciated three to six months later.
Your return to work depends on the number of parts of the body that have had liposuction. Some people can return to work right away, but most take four to seven days off before returning to their regular duties.
The properly extracted, clean, bloodless and sterile fat can be infiltrated as a natural filler, in the desired areas. Normally there is no rejection for being part of the same organism.
Frequent side effects are: swelling, bruising and scarring. The inflammation can last several months but does not limit daily life in any way and decreases over time. The bruises will probably be more painful, but will heal after about a month. The scar left after liposuction surgery, after a reasonable time, is barely visible.
