Mentoplasty

Mentoplasty is the intervention that allows to correct the aesthetic defects of the chin.

The chin may present an exaggerated or deficient projection, affecting the aesthetics of the entire face and in particular the profile.

Chin Augmentation

In the case of a deficient projection, the chin is increased by means of an implant, which can be:

  • Polyalkylimide Implant: is an absolutely innovative injectable product in the medical field. After the introduction, a very fine, natural and physiological capsule is created that surrounds the substance, giving rise to a true endoprosthesis. Under physiological conditions it is a definitive implant.
  • Silicone Prosthesis Implantation: Silicone prostheses are the most used for chin augmentation.

Chin Reduction

In other cases, the projection of the chin may be exaggerated and will have to be reduced.

Technique

Chin Augmentation Technique

The prosthesis is placed intraorally, referring to the prosthesis placement area itself, there are two possibilities:

  • The supraperiosteal zone
  • The subperiosteal zone

Chin Reduction Technique

It consists of reducing the bony projection. The incision is made transversally from the first molar on one side to the contralateral one on the labial slope.

In the first few days there will be some swelling and bruising that will gradually disappear

Aftercare

You will wear a special compression bandage for the first 4-5 days
