Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is a procedure in which we rejuvenate the look by removing excess skin and fat.
When there is a large amount of skin on the eyelids, the skin tends to hang and cause a loss of peripheral vision, it is in these cases that Blepharoplasty becomes plastic surgery, since this loss vision makes it difficult to perform activities such as reading or driving.
In other cases, we say that blepharoplasty is cosmetic surgery when the first symptoms of facial aging begin to accumulate excess skin on the lower eyelids. “Pockets” and wrinkles form on the lower eyelid that can even add years to our appearance and cause inflammation, especially in the morning, which gradually becomes permanent. The upper eyelid tends to droop, causing a tired look.
This is not necessarily linked to the passing of the years and the aging of the skin, but can often be hereditary -when it normally appears between the ages of twenty and thirty-, or it can be due to allergies, or systemic disorders that can appear in early age.
Aesthetically this generates an unattractive appearance and creates an impression of aging unnecessary or premature. Blepharoplasty surgery consists of removing excess fatty tissue and skin.
